Aging in Place Remodels: Houses for Living, Homes for Life

The majority of Americans desire to stay in their homes for their lifetime. Our utilization of “universal design” techniques will help you create spaces and adaptations that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing for every stage of your life! Universal design, also known as “Barrier-Free” or “Aging in Place” design, accommodates people of all abilities and requires minimal bodily effort while emphasizing comfort and safety. Universal design is quickly gaining widespread popularity as even those with no physical need for it are realizing the advantages and sophisticated aesthetics it brings to a home. A home with universal design provides “visit-ability”: a smart way to welcome any of your friends or family-who may have limited physical abilities-into your home.

Homes are created for function, comfort and beauty. Physical mobility and accessibility should not detract from these basic qualities. At McCaleb Construction, we understand these needs and know how to seamlessly incorporate Universal Design into your remodel. Our designs enhance your home’s ease of use with both form and function, and allow you to remain in your home comfortably for years to come.

As seen on “This Old House”

McCaleb Construction was recognized locally and nationally as an extraordinary remodelor when the company was featured in an eight-episode series on Public Broadcasting’s This Old House program. In less than 90 days the McCaleb Team gutted and renovated a 3,000 square foot home, while adding a 1200 square foot master bedroom suite and a lap pool.

The McCaleb Construction team invited the participation of SAHBA, as well as building officials from the City of Tucson, giving this project a community-wide appeal, which showcased Tucson to the entire nation. As a result of that program, McCaleb Construction received an award from SAHBA for “Superior Support and Dedication to the Southern Arizona Homebuilders Association.”
